Piqué Stomp

Challenge Day 23: What's an inside joke you have with someone?

A couple years ago me and my cousin Kassara were at a little get-together and me and her were having a conversation about the dance classes we were taking. Well, sitting next to us was a very..... Peculiar woman who is known for just including herself in other peoples conversations and being the Book of Knowledge. Well, Kass starts talking about a difficult technique combination, and this woman just jumps in.
"I know exactly how to solve your problem. Why, when I was taking dance classes I discovered that after you do a piqué, if you just do a big ole stomp, it'll make you not so dizzy! That's right! Just piqué STOMP piqué STOMP piqué STOMP! Trust me it works!!!"

{excuse me for a second} hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Ha ha. HA HA HA! Okay, I'm done...

So while me and Kassara try to hold in our laughter, miss know it all continues to give us more tips and tell us all about her days as a promising dancer.

This piqué stomp moment has become the ultimate inside joke. And I hope it lives on forever.

With just a tad of courage...

Challenge Day 21: If you died tomorrow, what's one thing you'd regret not doing?

So... this challenge is kinda hard. Because the answer to this question is one of the best things ive ever done, but also by far the hardest.  Awhile ago i decided that i needed to make some changes to my life, and in order to do that i had to stop being around a certain group of people. I just felt like it was time to start living MY life ya know? I had to choose my own path and i couldn't just follow what others were doing. So, i had to distance myself from these kids. Now please don't get me wrong. These people were so amazing and i still love and care about them.... but they were just going a different direction with their lives. Well, one day i just decided that enough was enough. It was time to put on my big girl panties and just do it. So... I did.
This day and the four-five months following my decision were some of the hardest days of my life. But, they also led to some of the best things too. For one, i discovered more about myself and who i wanted to be. I gained more confidence in myself, and didn't have to depend on these people for my way of life. Another great thing about my decision is that i got to know a different crowd, and made some amazing new friends. People i probably never would have gotten to know had i stayed attached at the hip to the old group. It's crazy how much your life can change by just one decision.
There are times where i still miss the 'old group', but i think i'm better off because i chose to pave my own path. I wouldn't take back my decision for a minute.
So There. Challenge done. {exhaling}
May you all have the courage to be YOUR best, even if it means going through a rough couple of months.

Homecoming

Hey friends. It's been a crazy week and sadly i haven't been able to keep you guys up to date on everything that has been going on... but have no fear, because you're about to get the gigantic Homecoming week update.

It was Homecoming Week at the great Hurricane High School. I don't think I had a single day where i wasn't crazily busy. It was exhausting yet the best week ever.  I loved every second of it, and it definitely ended wonderfully.

The fun really started the Friday before Homecoming week when i got asked by one of the most amazing boys on the planet, Tanner Lundeen, and also watched the Cedar/Hurricane game with my friends.

Then this past Wednesday was the Powderpuff game. It was so much fun, and seniors won {of course!}

We had a bonfire and lit the "H"
Friday was the big assembly, parade, and football game. Dad was in a slurpee drinking contest and drove our "Senior Class" float that i was in charge of. It was so fun!

Gran & Mom sat out and watched the parade.
At the football game, little entrepreneur Caleb sold balloons and was the cutest six year old alive.
Later on that night, i screamed myself horse at the Dixie/Hurricane game that we won, 34-32.

Saturday morning we had our day date. We went to the mall and did a video scavenger hunt. We had to do crazy things like act out a breakup, write our names with our butts in a store window, and catwalk the entire length of the mall. It was so fun! we even got pictures with this cool group of motorcyclists from Holland!
We ate lunch at Mongolian Barbeque {why i had never previously been there is still a mystery... its heaven in a bowl.} The meal was full of laughter, joking, and good ole fun. There was the cutest 80 year old woman there that everyone calls grandma, and she kept giving us origami frogs and swans. She couldn't speak a word of english, but she got a kick out of entertaining us.

Then later on we got back together to take pictures and eat delicious cheesecake and frozen cream puffs. YUM.  After gorging ourselves on delectable desserts, it was off to the dance.

Seriously, the night could  not have gone better. It has by far been the best high school dance ever! Who knows if it'll ever be beat! Ahhh. i love high school.

Have a great week!

Because sometimes you just need a little reminder...

"We ask for strength, and God gives us difficulties that make us strong. We pray for wisdom, and God sends us problems, the solution of which develops wisdom. We plead for prosperity, and God gives us brain and brawn to work with. We plead for courage, and God gives us dangers to overcome. We ask for favors- God gives us opportunities. This is the Answer."
-H.B. Brown

Found this today and it just fit so perfectly. Thank you Heavenly Father for these little reminders of the big scheme of things.

Here's to You...

Challenge Day 17: Something You Wish You Could Tell Someone

This message is for all teenage girls, so LISTEN UP!

You are beautiful, smart, and important. You are special, just the way you are. The quirks, craziness, and differences about you make you AWESOME. Don't compare yourself to other people, be you. You don't need to be THE best.... just be YOUR best. If you have opinions & feelings about something, let people know! Have confidence. No one is quite like you, and what a blessing that is. You are free to be who you want, do what you want, and live life to the fullest. You may not have the same talents as another person, but you are still talented! Let that talent blossom and share it with others.

Be kind to those around you. Get to know people, talk to those you think share no similarities with yourself. I've learned that in one way or another, everyone shares common likes, dislikes, pain, happiness, hobbies, etc. Be interested in other people. Be genuine. You can make more friends in 5 minutes by being interested in what they're doing, than you could in 5 years trying to get people interested in you. You can never meet/know too many people. Who knows? You might just find yourself a new best friend.

Speaking about best friends, love your family will ya? Spend ten minutes a day with your brother or sister. Ask them how their day went, take them with  you when you run errands, or just give them a hug and tell them how important they are to you. Get to know your mom and dad. Find out what they liked to do in high school. What vegetable they hated to eat when they were growing up. Learn all you can about them. Love Them. Talk to them. They love you so much and want to be close to you. It will help you out so much one day, I guarantee it.

Now about boys. Don't be in some huge rush to find "THE ONE". You still have so much life ahead of you, enjoy your teenage  years while they are still here. At seventeen, you shouldn't be narrowing down your list of potential husbands, you should be building it. Get to know and build friendships with the boys at your school. Don't go into it looking for romance or love, but for a genuine friendship. I promise you, there will be a lot less drama and a lot more happiness. When you do start thinking about marriage, make sure you know what you are looking for in a husband. Don't settle for less. Make sure you really know all about him. Take your time deciding if that's whats best, because that decision will literally be one of the biggest.

Finally, don't be afraid to take some risks. Failing does not mean you are a failure. It means that you are willing to take a leap of faith without knowing what's going to happen mid-jump. Try new things, meet new people, and put yourself out there. Don't be afraid of other's opinions or criticisms. Accomplish your goals and work towards your dreams, because YOU are amazing.
