Thanksgiving Celebrations

Thanksgiving this year was one of the best. We spent it in Riverton, Utah with the Pearson side of the family. The weekend was full of laughs and memories...and of course FOOD!

One of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving was picking up my great grandma Helen Jones from her home in Magna, UT. She is 95 and still full of spunk and mischief. I loved getting to visit with her and hear about her families' traditions from when she was a girl growing up in the 1920's.

Another highlight was playing the "Candy Bar Game" with all of the relatives. As always, Shirley and Grandma Jones had all the luck, and rolled one every time!!! I think traditions are some of the best things we have in life.

We also had our annual Turkey Bowl football game in Grandma's backyard, and although the game went into overtime, the girls pulled out the win and were awarded the Magna Elementary School Flipper Bowl trophy. [we use the flipper bowl one because that's all we got... and we had to make do].

Another highlight of the trip was going into Salt Lake City to see the lights at Temple Square. While we were waiting for it to be time, we browsed through the shops in the new City Creek Center. Our favorites were the candy windows in the old ZCMI building. The ornaments are made completely out of candy!

Finally it was time for the lights to come on, and boy were they beautiful. Temple Square was lit up by thousands of tiny lights, and I never wanted to leave.

Beautiful right??!!! I wish every time i looked out the window this is the view i had!!

All in all, our Thanksgiving weekend was one that will never be forgotten. I am so thankful for my wonderful family, because without them i could not keep going. I am also very grateful for the church and temples.

Have a wonderful end of November!

Day 29:   Pictures from ten years ago, ten months ago, ten weeks ago, & ten days ago

Ten Years: 2002
Ten years ago i was just a wee little first grader. I loved my stuffed animal "Sassy" and wanted to be a farmer. I had just moved to Hurricane from South Jordan, Utah and started going to school at Three Falls Elementary School.

We had some rockin farmers tans right?

Ten Months(ish): January 2012

I didn't have any pictures from exactly ten months ago, but these were taken about then. My sister was just getting married.

listening:     to this
watching:  Charlie St. Cloud. {thank you Zac Efron for being so attractive.}
feeling: so wonderful. Despite this yucky sore throat of mine, today has been absolutely splendid. I got to see my best friend and celebrate another friend's birthday.
weather: slightly chilly. The winter months are definitely here!
wanting:  Thanksgiving break to hurry up and get here already! School is kicking my bu-utt. Why did i take hard classes again? was i dropped on my head as a child?! Oi.
loving:   how RIGHT everything feels at this moment. Have you ever had something in your life that just feels like it fits so perfectly? and that all the puzzle pieces come together when someone is around? yeah... that's me right now.
thinking:  that if i can survive school until Christmas, i will have done the impossible.
enjoying:  seeing dearly missed friends after many months of a friendship drought.
wishing:  that this feeling in my gut is right... and that one day things will all work out!
quoting:  "The older I get, the surer I am that I'm not running the show."
laughing: at my crazy family. Ty came over tonight and my family acted perfectly normal. As soon as he left, my brothers broke out the snake charmer flutes and ran around like banshees while my mom did a Russian dance. THIS is why i am the way i am... its contagious!
learning: Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans.

Have a splendid week.

A Little Behind....

Hey friends! I'm sorry i've been terrible at staying up to date on life and my challenge posts, but sometimes life just throws a thousand different things at you all at one time... which means blogging gets put at the end of your to do list. Nevertheless, the last week has been AWESOME.  Wanna hear about it?

Halloween was last week and i think we pulled it off in a dashing manner.

These cute little yahoos were dressed to the nines and loved going trick or treating around our neighborhood. {which is one crazy crowded place on halloween}.

On Thursday, i got to see my sister Caitlin after three months of waiting. It was so fun to talk and catch up on each other's lives.

Friday the whole fam drove up to Salt Lake City to watch the Juan Diego vs. Hurricane game. Sadly, the football season came to an end that night. BUT... its also good news because now we can talk about Christmas  listen to Christmas music, and set up Christmas in our house. YIPEE!!!!

Sunday was the best day of all i think. I got my patriarchal blessing, and let me tell you. It's crazy how well Heavenly Father knows exactly what to tell you at the right time. Basically all my worries about life are gone, and i am so blessed to be a member of the LDS church. Wow. It was great.

Monday {yesterday} we made delicious white chocolate caramel apples for Family Night. They are SO good.

Well, that was a small glimpse about what i've been up to for the past few days. Hopefully i can find more time to be better at blogging.
