the best part of october

{dad's idea... take a picture like russian interrogators}
^^Is it possible for us to take a picture that doesn't look like this? No.

Every year as the leaves change from green to red, I count down the days until it's deer hunt weekend. The two days we get to spend up at the cabin and Oak Valley are some of the best days out of the entire year. The mountain was BEAUTIFUL and we definitely hit the right weekend to see all the fall colors. We went on dusty four wheeler rides, played a mean game of pinochle, and ate way too many cinnamon rolls. On saturday, we headed over to the flat and had lunch with the hunters. Colby pulled out the potato launcher and we watched the men run around the meadow like little kids. We had long girl talks that were way overdue. We got a little sun-burnt. And we had ourselves a real good time.

Spending time with the stratton fam and being in the place where so many childhood memories were made... What could be better?
Fall Break, you haven't disappointed yet!

midterm madness

I think it's safe to say that midterms officially kicked my patoot. I'm still not sure how I managed to keep my head above the water, but I think it had something to do with dinners on our porch, late night homework sessions, 15 hours school days, and some serious naps.

Fall break, you couldn't come at a better time.

conference in the salty city

Guess what? I've lived in Utah my entire life and I had never been to general conference until yesterday. Unheard of right? (; The weekend was PERFECT and i tried to soak in every second of it. Conference weekend is always my favorite weekend of the entire year. The sweet messages that come from our leaders and prophet always come at a moment when I absolutely need it. Every time, without fail, my heart is healed just a little more and I find the nudge I need to keep going. Being able to be there in person to hear the messages made it so special, and i wish I could just live in that moment for the rest of my life.

This gospel is one of the only things that keeps me going, day after day, and I am so grateful for our sweet prophet who guides us and loves us. He is truly a man of God, and it was such a neat experience to have the spirit reaffirm that witness to me at conference. I start my week with a newly found motivation to be a little better, love a little more, and work a little harder.

Happy October friends.
XOXO
