Falling for Fall

Each year, I can't wait until October comes into town and paints the world with colors that summer has never seen. As soon as the air gets crisp, I feel more alive and feel renewed to better enjoy life. If you know me at all (or have been following this blog for a while) you'll know that having marshmallow roasts up at Navajo Lake is my favorite college tradition. And each year it's the same story. I have to drag my roommates and friends up the canyon practically by their teeth, because no one realizes the magic that is Navajo Lake. So once again, we readied the group and headed up the canyon (this time I actually remembered matches!). By the time the colored trees and beautiful scenery came into view, people became more converted to the whole idea!

We got to the lake just as the sun was creating the most beautiful sunset, and I fell in love with this place for the umpteenth time. We took a bazillion pictures, listened to some Norah Jones and roasted smores to our hearts content. It was a night to remember and I am so glad I persuaded these peeps to drive a little further and come up the canyon with me.

Hope your October is the bees knees.

A Place Of Love and Beauty

// "The purpose of the endowment is to prepare for exaltation,
not merely to prepare for marriage or a mission." //

Last Saturday I had the opportunity to enter the St. George temple and take out my personal endowments. It was a day filled with new learning opportunities and promises that made my heart swell. Making the decision to go through the temple has been the best I've made so far in this life, and as I felt the love of my Heavenly Father in His sacred house, I knew that every preparation and sacrifice made to get there was more than worth it. I have never felt more beautiful than when I dressed in white and got a blip of insight into how our Father views us - as His sons and daughters whom he loves and wants nothing more than to have us back with Him.

I am so blessed. Blessed to have loving parents who have been an example of righteousness and covenant keeping. Blessed to have family who all showed up to support me. Blessed to have both roommates in attendance with me. Blessed to be part of this gospel. Blessed to know what I know. Blessed to be a daughter of God.

The Good Life

Hey there. It's me, coming in hot from Cedar City! These last few weeks have been full of meeting new people, doing new things, and starting off a new year at SUU.
AND GUYS. I HAVE AWESOME ROOMMATES.
I've been waiting for two years to have roommates who I get along with pretty well and can have fun with!! And this year surely delivered.
My girl Emilee has been my saving grace so far, and I cant even count how many good laughs and good talks we've had over the course of the last three weeks. Having her here with me is certainly a blessing and I love having a kindred spirit just a few steps away.
Classes are going great, I have the best schedule known to man, and I am making lots of new friends along the way. I finally feel like I have the hang of college (oops. only took three years) and I can honestly say that I am loving life up here in this tiny town.

Fall is just around the corner, and I already love it.
Sometimes you have to be patient for goodness to come,
but when it does ITS PERFECT.

A Farewell to Summer

// see ya later, alligator //

You know what's dumb? You wait around all year for summer to come, and then it finally does but it goes by in the blink of the eye! What's with that, huh??? I won't complain too much though, because I can honestly say this summer has been the best yet. I've finally mastered that balance between work + social life + family life + me time. I've learned to be a little bit more spontaneous, broaden my friendships, and be myself. I've been blessed with an awesome group of friends who help me get out and experience a little bit more, and I love them so much for it!

Here's a little wrap up of some fun memories from the last two months:

little keagen comes to town

He's here! The most perfect little 7 lb bundle of smiles and wrinkly skin. My sister Caitlin gave birth to sweet little Keagen Charles Canfield on July 15, and we are loving this little addition to our family. He looks so much like a Pearson that sometimes I think i'm looking at my little brothers! I've only seen him a few times, but I know that being an aunt is going to be one of the best things ever. Now if I could just figure out how to freeze time so that this little guy never grows up.

Hello, Oceanside!

I have been looking forward to this trip for the last year, and it turned out better than I could have imagined. (Because what could possibly be better than a beach trip with my family + cousins?!) We spent the Fourth of July in Las Vegas, and then all set out on the road for sunny california. So many good times + good laughs happened, and we definitely got the rest + relaxation we've all been craving.
Here's ten of the best good things from our beach adventure:

1. Watching the fireworks from the Las Vegas temple on the fourth. We all sat on top of our cars, played the most patriotic country songs we could find, and watched the valley explode with color. It was a night I will remember for the rest of my life! Sometimes spontaneous nights are the best nights.

2. Loading the van up with 12 boogie boards and heading down to the beach for a few hours. Dad drove with his shirt off, we played hispanic music out the windows, and then boogied and swam and crashed up on the shore to our hearts content.

3. Hotel Beds *heart eyes*

4. Waking up early + walking through the harbor village just as the little shops were starting to come alive.

5. Evening walks with the cousins out to the jetty, to look for little starfish, talk about life, and sing prince of egypt songs. This was the first chance we have been able to be together in so long and it was so good to be able to spend time with my favorite girls, especially since Madie gets married next week!

6. Not having to do my hair or put on make up for a whole week. THANK HEAVENS.

7. Spending way too much time watching the hustle + bustle of the people down at the harbor... Can people watching be a sport?

8. Going to the sunset market with the girls. The night was cool, the air was salty, and the atmosphere was perfect. Picture the cutest little street fair, complete with hanging lights, latino music, and shops filled with pretty treasures.. and BAM. That's what the night was!!

9.  Having a shopping day with mom + telli to let our sunburns rest.

10. Getting ice cream from the village two times in one day. (I'm convinced no one can make a better mint chip waffle cone for $3.00 in the whole country) #vacationcaloriesdon'tcountright?

It was a week straight out my dreams, and I can't wait to go again sometime (soon) in the future! As for me, it's back to work at sand hollow + trying to make the most out of the last month of summer.
As always, hope you're having a splendid week  + that you are able to step back from the craziness of the world and find some way to have fun!
