Happy at the Happiest place

We've been home from California a whopping five days and I am already missing the time I got to spend with my family. We haven't taken a trip without extra cousins or family in so long, and it was nice to just have time together, just the six of us. (We missed having Cait + Charles with us, but they were busy with work and getting into a new house.) We spent eight glorious days in Anaheim and it couldn't have been more fun! We spent three days at Disneyland + California Adventure, and yes... we continued the tradition of the ugly yellow family shirts. We did, however, convince our mom to let us also add in a day of blue shirts and a day of red shirts! ;) While we were definitely not the best looking people in the park, I'm convinced we were some of the happiest. Our family does Disneyland pretty hard core, with limited breaks or slow perusings. It's basically three days of half speed-walking/half jogging from one ride to another while dad meets us with fast passes. It's crazy and exhausting, but I honestly don't think we could do it any other way!

Our family is at a really fun stage right now. This was the first Disneyland trip where we didn't have to push around a stroller or waste precious time going on dumbo rides. Poor little Caleb, his legs are still half the size of ours but he did a good job keeping up with all of us older kids. It turns out he and Chantell are quite the little courageous spirits. We convinced them to go on all of the bigger rides in the parks, and they eventually caught on to the idea that bigger is better! :) We also had a few days to just relax at the pool or read + take naps at the condo. I think I slept 19 million hours while I was there, but hey what's a little vacation without some rest, right?!

With everyone growing up and being so busy nowadays, it was nice to be able to get a way from normal day-to-day life and spend some time together. :) Family is one of the biggest blessings in my life, and they are definitely what make me the happiest!

Spring Snippets

// when you work on loving life, life will love you back. //

I think if I could have one wish, it would be that I could live these last few months over and over again. I haven't been to good at blogging, but I like to think that I've been so busy enjoying life that posting about it got put on the back burner... not necessarily a bad thing, right? ;)

Things here in Cedar (and Hurricane) have been crazy but so fantastic! I am loving where I am at in the Education Program, and still love teaching so much. I've also loved that my schedule this semester allows me to get out and have a lot of fun, and I've already made so many memories from the last few months.

Someone You Need To Meet

So a while back I may have hinted that there was a very cute boy that was taking up a lot of my time, and I figured that it's about time I talk about him...

In November I got set up on a blind date with this guy named Colten Warren. I had never met Colten before, but two of our mutual friends were going on a date together and we ended up as the other couple on their date. #the sacrifices we make for friends. The night was pretty awkward, and I could only squeeze a few words out of him the entire time. I did, however, learn that he had just gotten home from serving an LDS mission in Jacksonville, FL and that he had actually served with one of my best friends, Christine Cram, while he was there. Thankful that I could go to my best friend for reassurance, I sneakily texted Christine and asked her what she thought of Colten. I almost instantly got a reply back saying that she had absolutely loved serving with him and that he was one of the best guys she knew. Whew! At least I knew he was a good guy and that he was probably just still in that post-mish awkward phase.

The night ended and I honestly didn't think that it would go anywhere. We had both done our civic duty to double with our friends, and that was that. However, when I saw him at a devotional the next night, we continued talking. He was still a little bit awkward, but we ended up having a great time talking and seemed to hit it off. We went on another date the next weekend and I had a blast. I knew him a little better at this point, and we spent the whole night laughing and talking. From there we spent a lot of days together, and started officially dating about three weeks later.

Now, a little bit more about Colten. He grew up here in Cedar City and did cross country, track, and soccer in high school. He graduated from Cedar High in 2013, the same year I did!   He ran on the SUU Track team and finished a year of school before serving a mission in Jacksonville. Colten is now back at school here at SUU and working towards getting his degree in Communication. He loves sports and spicy mexican food, and can sing 80's songs like nobody's business ;)

We have been dating for four months now, and I am completely in love with that boy. We are probably one of the few blind dates that actually ended up going anywhere, but I'm so glad they did. He is so great and has made my life so full of happiness! We are so similar and enjoy the same things. He makes me laugh, and I can't imagine loving anyone else. :)

...So there. Now you're just about caught up on all my life's going-ons. ;)
I promise to keep things more updated around here... fingers crossed it actually happens.
